The Leadership
North Fulton (LNF) Program begins in September with a reception followed by
the opening retreat and team building/ropes course. There will be a day-long class one day
each month from October through April followed in May by an overnight closing
retreat and graduation at the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce breakfast.
Please refer to the schedule for exact dates.
As part of the
Program's objectives, participants will explore, examine and discuss relevant
issues and solutions in the North Fulton area. As a means to this end, participants
will visit different facilities related to government, economic development,
judicial, social service needs, educational, environmental and health care.
Class members
will learn to enhance leadership skills through use of a professional facilitator
in the areas of management, diversity and change and conflict mediation. Further,
participants will promote interaction through group discussions and activities.
Each participant, along with a group of four of five fellow participants, will
be assigned to a project team. These teams will conceptualize, create and implement
a community-based project. These projects are an exciting and integral part
of the class experience.
The leadership curriculum was developed by
Dr.
Beverly Y. Langford, Chairman of LMA Communication, a
corporate communications consulting firm that works with
corporations, organizations, and management on issues, such as
corporate communication strategies and structures, message
development, interpersonal communication, and leadership.
Dr. Langford serves as the instructor and facilitator on many of
the class days.
